We pride ourselves on the exceptional dedication and compassion of our wonderful caregiver team members. We are thrilled to share the heroic story of one caregiver at our Olympia Branch, Elaine Solie, who recently received the Lifesaver Award for her quick thinking and courageous actions.
A Routine Visit Turns Alarming
Elaine was concluding her visit with a client when she detected an unusual odor inside the client’s trailer. Initially, the client did not notice anything amiss, but soon, both Elaine and the client identified the same concerning smell: propane. Acting on her instincts and training, Elaine immediately took action to ensure the client’s safety.
Swift and Decisive Action
They stepped outside to investigate, but the odor dissipated in the open air. Upon re-entering the trailer, the smell intensified, prompting Elaine to evacuate the client once more. She made sure the client was comfortable in her car with the air conditioning running while she conducted a thorough check of the trailer.
Discovering the Danger
Elaine discovered that a hose had detached from the propane tank, posing a significant danger. She quickly shut off the propane supply and ensured the client remained safely outside. The client’s landlord arrived shortly thereafter to repair the hose, resolving the immediate hazard.
A Grateful Client to Elaine Solie
The client’s heartfelt gratitude speaks volumes about Elaine’s impact: “This caregiver literally saved my life today. Had she not been here, I would have gone to sleep with my kitty and might not have woken up or even been blown away. I’m so thankful for her and your entire company for being so wonderful to me.”
Exemplifying Excellence in Caregiving
Elaine’s vigilance and swift response averted a potential disaster, showcasing the profound difference that caregivers can make in the lives of those they serve. Her actions exemplify the commitment and care we strive to deliver every day. Congratulations, Elaine, on receiving the Lifesaver Award. Your bravery and dedication are an inspiration to us all.
