At our Yakima Branch, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the extraordinary dedication and quick thinking of our caregiver, Charlene Rogers, who has been awarded the Lifesaver Award. Charlene’s recent actions not only exemplify the compassion and professionalism of our caregivers but also highlight the critical importance of vigilance and prompt response in caregiving.
A Day That Made a Difference with Charlene Rogers
On the day before the Fourth of July, Charlene arrived at her client’s home and immediately noticed something was off. Her client was behaving strangely, showing signs of confusion and incoherence. Additionally, Charlene observed changes in her client’s facial appearance. Trusting her instincts and training, Charlene sprang into action.
Despite feeling a bit frantic, as this was her first medical emergency, Charlene called 911 to ensure her client received immediate medical attention. She then informed our branch about the situation, suspecting her client might have had a stroke. Charlene’s prompt decision-making proved to be life-saving.
Two days later, we followed up with the hospital and learned that the client had been discharged the same day but was later airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital due to a major stroke. We reached out to the client’s daughter, who confirmed that without Charlene’s quick response, her mother might not have survived. Although the client will not be returning to Yakima, she is alive today, alert and oriented, thanks to Charlene’s fast action. The client’s family has expressed profound gratitude for the care and support provided by Charlene.
