Trina Bottini’s Journey: From Caregiver to Inland Northwest Regional Vice President at Family Resource Home Care

Trina’s Humble Beginning

Trina’s journey with Family Resource Home Care began in 2011 with Family Home Care in the Palouse and Spokane regions. Initially, her role involved scheduling, caregiving, and working with hospice clients. Interestingly, she had applied to be a caregiver, but her manager recognized her potential and requested her assistance in the office from the first week. “I was totally new to caregiving when I applied with Family Home Care,” Trina recalls. “I worked at the hospital and got my Idaho/Washington CNA, and a friend who worked at Family Home Care encouraged me to apply.”

Rising Through the Ranks

Her role evolved quickly as she embraced new responsibilities. For 1.5 years, Trina juggled multiple tasks before transitioning to work from home after Family Resource Home Care purchased the home care portion of the Family Home Care. Her initial goal was to reach 700 hours to justify hiring a second employee, and she successfully opened the first office in Moscow, Idaho, becoming the Palouse Branch Manager.

Trina’s career at Family Resouorce Home Care has been marked by her versatility and adaptability. In 2021, she took on integration and training roles, helping to set up new offices. Despite some restructuring that brought her back to the Branch Manager role in Palouse, she continued to excel. Her efforts were recognized, and she advanced to Area Vice President, overseeing the Palouse, Lewiston/Clarkston Valley, Boise, and Walla Walla branches. In March 2024, she achieved the position of Oregon Regional Vice President. Reflecting on her career, she humorously states, “I call myself the ping pong ball of Family Resource Home Care.” Then in September 2024, Trina transitioned into the Inland Northwest Regional Vice President to be closer to her home-base.

Comprehensive Understanding and Dedication

Her experience in various positions within the company has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s operations and the needs of both clients and caregivers. “Having done so many positions, which I consider a great benefit, helps me understand, help, navigate, and support the people I manage,” Trina explains. Her hands-on experience visiting clients’ homes has given her a profound appreciation for the work caregivers do daily. “Having the experience of visiting so many clients in their homes gives me a true understanding of the impact of what we do every single day.”

Personal Connection and Commitment

Trina’s personal connection to Family Resource Home Care runs deep, as her father was a client. Observing the caregivers in action provided her with a unique perspective and reinforced her commitment to the organization’s mission. “Seeing our caregivers working in motion was absolutely fantastic,” she shares.

Mentorship and Advice

Her journey has been supported by numerous mentors and colleagues who have guided her along the way. “I have been very fortunate to have been surrounded by so many mentors and fantastic people who have led by example. I truly feel blessed to have so many amazing people guide me.”

Trina’s advice to those in the caregiving field is rooted in authenticity and empathy. “If you’re in home care already, we know you have a big heart. Allow yourself to open up to each client’s situation. Never lose sight of the impact you’re making as a caregiver,” she advises. “When you do a wonderful job for your clients, they don’t just rely on you; they care and respect you.
